I recently visited Kenny Rivero’s exhibition at Charles Moffett Gallery in Tribeca. Currently a professor of painting at Columbia University, Rivero is a Bronx-based artist who has collaborated on several solo exhibitions with this gallery. The fact that his work is being presented simultaneously at the gallery and at an art fair in Miami speaks volumes about the deep trust and commitment the gallery has for him.
His work explores themes of grief and loss, deeply rooted in his personal experiences and background. As an artist of Dominican descent, he seamlessly weaves his identity into his pieces, creating a profound sense of depth and resonance.

찰스 모펫(Charles Moffett) 갤러리는 브롱크스를 기반으로 활동하는 작가 리베로(Kenny Rivero)의 새로운 회화 개인전을 선보이게 되어 기쁩니다.
《Ash on Everything(모든 것 위의 재)》이라는 제목의 이번 전시는 뉴욕에서 3년 만에 열리는 작가의 개인전이자, 저희 갤러리와 함께하는 다섯 번째 전시입니다.
이번 전시의 오프닝에 앞서, 2025년 12월 2일부터 6일까지 열리는 'NADA 마이애미' 아트페어의 솔로 부스에서 리베로의 신작 중 일부를 먼저 공개할 예정입니다. 아트페어에서의 전시는 이번 대규모 개인전의 서막이자, 리베로의 최신 작품들이 불러일으키는 독특한 세계관을 엿볼 수 있는 기회가 될 것입니다.

Ash on Everything
Charles Moffett is pleased to present a solo exhibition of new paintings by the Bronx-based artist Kenny Rivero. The show, titled Ash on Everything, marks the first solo exhibition of the artist’s work in New York in over three years and his fifth with the gallery. In the week ahead of the opening of Ash on Everything, Charles Moffett will present a small selection of Rivero’s new paintings in a solo booth at NADA Miami on view December 2 - 6, 2025. The gallery’s fair presentation will serve as a prelude to the larger exhibition, a glimpse into the world that Rivero’s newest paintings summon. In the years since Rivero’s last exhibition in New York, Steward: Ballad of a Super Super (2022), the artist has had solo exhibitions in cities around the world, including in London, U.K. and Los Angeles, C.A. In that time, his work has joined the permanent collections of a number of major museums, such as the Norton Museum, Palm Beach, FL; the Baltimore Museum of Art, Baltimore, MD; and the Modern Art Museum Fort Worth, TX, where his work was exhibited in the recent exhibition Surrealism and Us: Caribbean and African Diasporic Artists Since 1940 (2024).

Kenny Rivero’s latest exhibition, marking his return to New York after three years, truly reflects the solid trust between the artist and Charles Moffett Gallery. It was impressive to see how he translates his Dominican roots into the textures of 'ash' and 'dust' while staying grounded in his Bronx-based practice.
By layering personal themes of loss and grief onto the canvas, his work transcends simple painting, offering a subtle yet powerful sense of dimensionality. It was a moment of complete immersion into the artist’s profound narrative, all within the calm atmosphere of Tribeca.
I’ve visited Charles Moffett from time to time, but after this show, I feel I should drop by much more often. Thank you.
