I just visited Frieze New York 2026. This was my second time attending, and it was held at the same venue, The Shed in Hudson Yards. The fair spanned the 2nd, 4th, and 6th floors of the building, but the main highlights were definitely on the 2nd floor, where all the major galleries gathered.
This year, I mainly focused on filming the mega-galleries and key artworks. Last year, I tried to capture absolutely everything and ended up exhausted. So this time, I took it a bit easier and enjoyed the fair with a lighter mind.
It was especially nice to spot Korean galleries here and there. I was also thrilled to see works by my university seniors—I truly hope they had a successful show.
Frieze New York 2026
The 15th edition of Frieze New York returns to The Shed from May 13-17, 2026 and will feature approximately 70 galleries, collaborations with nonprofit organizations and ambitious performance-led programming.
The Galleries section welcomes ambitious solo, dual and group proposals from galleries representing international artists and showing a regular program of exhibitions.
제15회를 맞이하는 프리즈 뉴욕(Frieze New York)이 2026년 5월 13일부터 17일까지 더 셰드(The Shed)로 돌아옵니다. 이번 페어에는 약 70개의 갤러리가 참여하며, 비영리 단체들과의 협업 및 퍼포먼스 중심의 야심 찬 프로그램들을 선보일 예정입니다.
'갤러리(Galleries)' 섹션에서는 해외 작가들을 대변하고 정기적인 전시 프로그램을 운영하는 갤러리들의 깊이 있는 솔로(개인전), 듀오(2인전), 그리고 그룹 기획 전시들을 만나볼 수 있습니다.
'포커스(Focus)' 섹션은 올해로 3년째 루미 탄(Lumi Tan)이 자문을 맡았습니다. 포커스 섹션은 2014년 이후에 설립된 신진 갤러리들의 개인전(Solo presentation)을 전문으로 다루며, 참여 갤러리들에는 부스 참가비 보조 혜택이 제공됩니다.
I’ll wrap up Part 1 with Kukje Gallery, which was so wonderful to see here. At this year's Frieze, it felt like the mega-galleries chose to present diverse group shows rather than solo exhibitions. Last year, Gagosian grabbed everyone’s attention with a solo booth for Jeff Koons, but this year felt much more calm and grounded. It seemed like galleries were focusing on showcasing a wider variety of artists. I’ll be back with Part 2 soon. Thank you.
